---Listen to your Body Message---
The results from the Health Checkup are an important component revealed by your body. Even if you do not notice any signs or symptoms at all, eventually, severe diseases may silently progress over time.
If this goes on undetected, one day, it may potentially lead to a life-threatening condition Such as a stroke or a heart attack.
If you know well about your health, you will have the power to preserve your life and to live longer. This can be done by managing your health, changing the unhealthy habits that you are accustomed to, or by starting treatments for your diseases at an early stage.
To determine these important factors without the manifestation of early signs or symptoms in your body and to cope with them at an early stage, we heartily recommend you take a Health Checkup at least once a year.
By taking Health Checkups annually, you can begin to improve your quality of life. Take control and find out if your health is at its optimum level, abnormalities are improving, stable, or at a critical stage. In other words, you can reflect, and think about the results. What does your current lifestyle (such as eating, exercising, drinking, smoking, etc.) do to your body? Reflectively, you can enjoy your long life as a health-conscious individual!
Five Major Items of Health Checkups are as follows:
1. Blood Pressure
Blood Pressure (BP) is a measurement of the force of the blood pushing against the
arterial wall.
This pressure is vital in order to circulate the blood from your heart through your
entire body. The frequency of blood monitoring will depend on your age and general
health status.
The assessment of BP is an important aspect of your overall health maintenance. A
normal BP is 120/80mmHg, If the measurement is 130/80 or above this condition
is known as high blood pressure or hypertension.
If the blood pressure is constantly high and this situation is ignored or uncontrolled, complications may arise and it can increase the risk of damaging your heart, brain, eyes, and kidneys. In extreme situations, it leads to a stroke, heart attack, and other serious illnesses.
◆Prevention:
Reducing salt, getting regular aerobic exercise, getting fit and keeping the ideal body weight, quitting smoking, taking medicine, etc.
2. Lipid Profile(Blood Test)
Hyperlipidemia occurs when lipids or fats, such as triglycerides and cholesterol are too much in your blood. If this is left undetected, it results in plaque build-up in the arterial wall or atherosclerosis this condition causes hardening and blockage of the blood. Untreated atherosclerosis increases the risk of heart disease, and cerebrovascular disease or death. Hyperlipidemia shows no symptoms until it’s late, a simple blood test can detect this. The lipid profile will show the Total Cholesterol(T-Cho), the indicator for the level of LDL Cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein cholesterol), known as “bad cholesterol” and triglycerides in your blood.
◆Prevention:
Eat fatty food processed food in moderation, and limit your salt intake. Be physically active quit smoking Avoiding sugars, and cholesterol, decreasing alcohol, eating vegetables, etc.
◆Prevention:
To reduce the level of sugar in the blood, it is recommended to consume food with a low glycemic index such as those containing high fiber, vitamins, and minerals and low-fat dairy food.
3. Blood Glucose Test(Blood test)
Sugar is the main source of energy that fuels the cell in our body. It is absorbed in the blood with the help of a hormone called insulin. If the glucose overflows into the blood, it is due to a lack of insulin production from the pancreas. A blood glucose test is used to check the level of sugar in the bloodstream.
Excessive glucose buildup in our blood is called hyperglycemia. If this condition
continues without treatment, it leads to nerve damage, irreversible eye damage,
and a critical health condition like diabetic ketoacidosis. On the other hand, the
opposite condition when not enough sugar is in the blood is called hypoglycemia.
It happens normally when a person is taking an antihyperglycemic drug. You will
need to get a blood sugar test in order to find out if you are in the prediabetic
stage or already a has diabetes. This test helps evaluate your health status. The
fasting blood glucose test measures the sugar level in your body after an overnight
of abstaining from food. While hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), measures the sugar level
in your body over the past 2 to 3 months.
◆Prevention:
To reduce the level of sugar in the blood, it is recommended to consume food with a low glycemic index such as those containing high fiber, vitamins, and minerals and low-fat dairy food.
4. Liver Function Test(Blood test)
The liver has various roles in your body, it filters toxins such as alcohol and drugs, produces enzymes, metabolizes chemicals, and produces protein used for blood clotting.
A liver function test or liver panel is done to check liver problems, screen for infection, or monitor the overall health of your liver. If you have liver problems such as fatty liver, acute hepatitis, and chronic hepatitis, An enzyme of AST and ALT which are contained in the liver will overflow into the blood. Then the indexes of AST(GOT)and ALT (GPT)will go up. Meanwhile, one of the Enzymes named GGT(γGTP)is an index of alcoholic hepatitis. This liver issue is undetected it could possibly cause hepatic cirrhosis or liver cancer.
◆Prevention: Eat in moderation
Cutting down on drinking alcohol, giving your liver a rest of non-alcohol a day a week, taking quality proteins, and eating vegetables containing much of vitamins and minerals.
5. Kidney Function Test(Urine test、Blood test)
Like our liver, the kidney similarly plays a vital role in the body’s homeostasis.
It gets rid of excess waste and toxins and excess water in the blood which is
excreted during urination. The kidney also aids in hormone production that
regulates blood pressure; it produces Vit. D helps calcium absorption for a
stronger bone and supports the production of blood cells.
When the kidney is injured, protein comes out into the urine. While the waste
product is not filtered through will continue to circulate into the blood. BUN
(blood urea nitrogen)and CRE(creatinine)are general indexes for kidney
function. If you keep such conditions undetected, the kidneys gradually lose
their function. Eventually, it leads to a chronic kidney disease where you will
need to have dialysis to remove the toxins in your body. Apart from this, another health issue may also arise if the level of UA (uric acid) goes up.
It happens when the uric acid is not excreted efficiently, this will increase your risk of gout.
